Gabbert played college football for the University of Missouri for three years . He scored 6,822 yards and 40 touchdowns in the passing game in 31 games (26 from the start as a starter ) .

NFL

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Blaine Gabbert in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft as the tenth player. They swapped their draft rights in the first (16th pick ) and second rounds for the Washington Redskins ' draft rights to pick Gabbert with the tenth pick. The Redskins chose the defensive end Ryan Kerrigan (with the 16th pick) with the two draft rights and after four more trades of the second-round draft right (and one more pick (144th) in the 5th round) with the Indianapolis Colts , the Chicago Bears , the Miami Dolphins and the Houston Texans to wide receiver Leonard Hankerson (as the 79th player), the running back Roy Helu (105), the Safety Dejon Gomes (146th), the wide receiver Aldrick Robinson (178) and offensive tackle Maurice Hurt (217th).

Gabbert signed a four-year contract for 12 million dollars . After the former starting quarterback , David Garrard , was fired in the preseason and the new starter , Luke McCown , played poorly in the first two games, Gabbert came to his first appearance in the second game of the regular season and was from the third week the new starting quarterback for the Jaguars. At the end of the 2011 season , he became the youngest quarterback in NFL history to play 14 games as a starter .

In his second season, Gabbert played the first ten games from the start and then had to end his season early because of an injury.

In the 2013 season , Gabbert was only used in three games for the Jaguars.

San Francisco 49ers

After the season, the Jaguars swapped Blaine Gabbert for a sixth round draft pick to the San Francisco 49ers , who signed him as a backup for Colin Kaepernick . The Jaguars chose the center Luke Bowanko with the draft law .

In the 2014 season he was only used in one game, but was appointed starting quarterback before the ninth game of the 2015 season , after disappointing performance of the offense under quarterback Colin Kaepernick. During the 2016 season, however, he lost this position again to Colin Kaepernick.

Arizona Cardinals

On May 11, 2017, Gabbert signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals . There he started five games from the start after injuries to Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton before he was put back on the bench and replaced by Stanton. In the five games he threw passes for 1,086 yards , scoring 6 touchdowns with 6 interceptions .

Tennessee Titans
