The two participants, whose real name must be known, qualify based on their results in blitz or bullet chess . You must have played at least 75 rated games on the server beforehand. Each player may only take part in a Blitz Death Match once, the host decides on exceptions.

The competition lasts three hours, during which there is no break. First 90 (initially 75) minutes of blitz chess with a reflection time of 5 minutes per game plus 2 seconds per move, then 60 minutes with a reflection time of 3 minutes per game plus 2 seconds per move, and finally 30 (initially 45) minutes of bullet chess with a thinking time of 1 minute per game plus 1 second per move. The colors are changed after each game. If a game is running at the end of the competition time, it will still be counted. All three time modes are included in the overall ranking in equal parts; the player with the most points wins. In the event of a tie, bullet games are played until a game is won. The prize fund is currently $ 1000 . Initially, the overall winner received $ 750, later $ 500. Since then, the winner of each reflection period has received an additional $ 100, so that a maximum of $ 800 prize money can be earned. The competitions are broadcast and commented online.
