action

Jimmy Dove is a living legend among the Boston police bomb disposal . But he has an eventful past that explains his explosive passion. Under the name Liam McGivney , he once fought side by side with his friend and mentor Ryan Gaerity as an independent Irish Republican terrorist in the Northern Ireland conflict (they were not in the IRA ). However, while Liam renounced armed struggle and terror, and when Dove began a new life, Gaerity not only remained in prison but also true to the dangerous line and swore revenge on McGivney for his departure.

Dove has since retired and is training the next generation of police officers. But a mysterious series of bomb attacks and the death of a recruit make him sit up and take notice and return to the police force. Jimmy soon recognizes in the almost artfully manufactured explosive devices the style of Gaerity, who broke out of a prison in Northern Ireland and traveled to America. Dove and his personal and private environment are the target of the series of attacks with which Gaerity wants to make life hell for his former comrade.

After Jimmy loses most of his friends and colleagues to the detonations despite all his professional skills, he finally receives the decisive tip. In a highly explosive showdown on a dilapidated shipwreck, Dove can finally knock out Gaerity and clear his last booby trap.

Reviews

The Lexicon of International Films wrote: "More interested in pyromania than in the credibility of the characters and events, the film exploits the Irish struggle for freedom as a backdrop for a superficial action spectacle."

Cinema found: "The" Man in Black "versus the" Big Lebowski "- sounds good, but unfortunately the characters remain pale and all the credit goes to the pyrotechnicians. Your booth magic culminates in the explosion of a real ship. Otherwise, the staging of the later " 24 " maker Stephen Hopkins unfortunately lacks fire. "
