Robert Windle

Robert "Bob" Windle (born November 7, 1944 in Sydney ) is a former Australian swimmer .

What was remarkable about him was that he was successful on both the short and the long freestyle courses. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 he started over all freestyle distances from 100 m to 1500 m and even became Olympic champion over 1500 m freestyle . He also won the bronze medal with the Australian 4 × 100 m freestyle relay. Four years later he won bronze again at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico with the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay and the silver medal over 4 × 200 meters.

In 1990 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
