Bodenrode is a district of the municipality of Bodenrode-Westhausen in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .

Bodenrode is about 4 kilometers east of Heilbad Heiligenstadt , immediately to the west is the partner district Westhausen . The corridors of the districts are located in the Leinetal and the surrounding plateau-like plateaus in the hilly landscape of the central Eichsfeld in undulating terrain. In the village, the Steinbach coming from the north flows into the Leine . Other neighboring communities are Steinbach in the north, Wingerode in the east and Geisleden in the south.

The hamlet-like settlement of Weimarskamp below the Dün is part of the location .

history

Bodenrode was first mentioned in a document in 1305. On January 2, 1992, the Leinetal administrative community was founded, at that time consisting of the still independent member communities Bodenrode and Westhausen, which merged on November 6, 1993. In 2010, 500 people lived in the district. There is a primary school in the district. A building contractor and a roofing company are located here.

The parish church Laurentius Bodenrode with the nave built from 1688 to 1708 and incorporation of the Romanesque tower from the previous building. The church has a rich interior . It was established in 2010 as the first Catholic cycle path church in Thuringia. It is the primary church of Father Gebhard Maulhardt (OSA), long-time director of pilgrimage of the Holy Blood Pilgrimage Walldürn, as the largest Eucharistic pilgrimage site in Germany.
