Boissevain is a small town in the Canadian province of Manitoba and borders the US / Canadian border with North Dakota . About 1500 people live in the small town. The small town is known for its International Peace Garden as well as for its artistic drawings on several buildings. The small town was named after Adolphe Boissevain, who was instrumental in financing the Canadian Pacific Railway .
Boissevain is near Turtle Mountain Provincial Park, which hosts the International Turtle Derby every summer. As a mascot for the race and the city, there is "Tommy the Turtle", the 28-foot statue of an ornamental turtle with a Canadian and an American flag in its hands.
A total of 15,000 people live within a 50 km radius of the small town. There is a radio station (CRJB) in town, which is operated by Golden West Broadcasting.
