Carberry is a place in the southwest of the Canadian province of Manitoba .
The place was created in 1882 when mainly British settlers settled on the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), which was still under construction , and set up their farms on the fertile prairie soils . In that year the CPR built a train station at De Winton about three kilometers east, but moved it to the area where it is today due to property speculation that same year.
To this day, Carberry has been shaped by agriculture , and the processing food industry was added in the middle of the 20th century . Since then, the largest employer has been a potato processing company, which has been part of the world's largest manufacturer of French fries , McCain Foods , since 2004 .
