history

The Bordesholmer Sparkasse was founded on May 28, 1845 under the name "Spar- und Leihkasse der Ämter Bordesholm , Kiel and Cronshagen ". Eventful years followed, particularly in the context of social and political developments in the state of Schleswig-Holstein under Danish rule . After the duchies of Schleswig and Holstein came under the Prussian crown after the German-Danish war , difficult times followed for the free public savings banks. These were mainly due to the fact that the Prussian state was fundamentally different from the Danish self-image in relation to the savings bank system. While the vast majority of the Schleswig-Holstein savings banks were still operating in a private legal form, this relationship was reversed under Prussian rule. The private savings banks, including the Bordesholmer Sparkasse, were exposed to strong pressure from the policy of the new state system during these years. The course for the Bordesholmer Sparkasse, which continued to operate in its private legal form, was only set on January 30, 1930. With the acceptance of a model statute drawn up by the Prussian Ministry of the Interior, the Bordesholmer Spar- und Leihkasse was granted the rights of a legal person (economic association). In the further course the Bordesholmer Sparkasse developed very well. Another milestone was the merger with Sparkasse St. Margarethen-Wacken in 1990 and the change of the legal form to a stock corporation in 2006.

Branch structure

The branches of the Bordesholmer Sparkasse are spread across the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. Among other things, this is the result of a separate business area, which came about through the takeover of the former Sparkasse Sankt Margarethen - Wacken . This phenomenon occurs predominantly in the case of the free public savings banks, where, due to their legal form, merging with regionally neighboring public-law institutions is much more difficult.
