history

Borowian was first mentioned in a document in 1796 and is said to have existed since the beginning of the 18th century. In 1846 a forester's house was built.

In 1865 there were 14 farmers, seven gardeners and four free hawkers in the Borowian community. Borowian owned two mills: The Kusch-Mühle on Schwinowitzer Wasser and the Kruppa-Mühle on the Malapane , where the town of Kruppamühle was founded in the 20th century .

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 166 eligible voters voted to remain in Germany and 148 to belong to Poland. Borowian remained with the German Empire . In 1936 the place was renamed Waldhufen with reference to the adjacent forest . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Borowiany and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship . In 1999 the place became part of the new Silesian Voivodeship and the re-established Powiat Gliwicki .
