Krupski Młyn [ ˈkrupski ˈmwyn ] ( German Kruppamühle ) is a village and seat of the municipality of the same name in Poland . It is located ten kilometers southeast of Zawadzkie on the Malapane and belongs to the Powiat Tarnogórski in the Silesian Voivodeship .
history
Before 1874, only the mill of the same name as well as a farm and a forester's house, which were part of the southwestern village of Borowian (Borowiany), were located on the site of today's location . It was not until the Oberschlesische AG for the manufacture of lignose established an explosives factory at this point that a small settlement emerged . The workforce was mainly recruited from the western parts of Prussia, which resulted in a Protestant diaspora in the otherwise Catholic Upper Silesia.
The factory initially produced explosives for the mines in Upper Silesia, mainly black powder , and later also war ammunition. It was destroyed by an explosion in 1918. Due to the Korfanty - Silesian Uprisings the reconstruction delayed long. In 1923 the factory was chosen as one of the targets of conspiratorial Polish attacks in the German Reich. In the Kruppamühle explosives factory of Lignose Sprengstoffwerke GmbH , 300 employees again worked in 1929, and 750 in 1944. In 1934, production was switched to nitroglycerine and dynamite .
In the nearby Potempa (today part of the municipality of Krupski Młyn) five uniformed SA men murdered the communist Konrad Pietrzuch in a brutal manner on the night of August 9-10, 1932. A death sentence was initially issued against the murderers of Potempa , but after a show of solidarity from Hitler, it was commuted to life imprisonment eleven days later. The perpetrators were finally released by the Hitler government on March 2, 1933.
The place belonged to the district Groß Strehlitz until 1945 , since 1945 Krupski Młyn has been on Polish territory. The explosives factory was nationalized.
The place is still a chemical site today, since 1957 it has had the status of a city-like settlement. In 1970 the neighboring town of Potępa ( Potempa ) was incorporated.
The Nitron-Erg operation, which belongs to Nitron SA (German Nitron AG ), emerged from the explosives factory . The product range has been expanded or converted several times. a. Plastics, polyester films, granulates for the shoe industry.
