Sieroty (German Schieroth ) is an Upper Silesian village in the municipality of Wielowieś , Powiat Gliwicki in the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland . Sieroty has 480 inhabitants. Sieroty forms a Schulzenamt. The village mayor is Jan Berda.
history
Schieroth was first mentioned on June 17, 1299. The place name is derived from a person's name. The place belonged to the rule Langendorf of Baron Durant de Senegas.
From 1936 to 1945 the place had the official name Schönrode.
In 1945 Schönrode came under Polish administration. From 1975 to 1998, Sieroty was in the newly formed Katowice Voivodeship . In 1999 Sieroty came to the new Silesian Voivodeship and the re-established Powiat Gliwicki.
