Boutancourt is a village and a former French commune with 277 (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region . It belonged to the arrondissement of Charleville-Mézières and the canton of Nouvion-sur-Meuse .

With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Flize , Balaives-et-Butz , Boutancourt and Élan were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Flize of the same name and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Flize.

geography

Boutancourt is surrounded by the villages of Flize in the north, Dom-le-Mesnil in the east, Sapogne-et-Feuchères in the southeast, Élan in the south and Étrépigny in the west.

history

During the western campaign of the German Wehrmacht, the village was captured on May 14, 1940 by the 2nd Panzer Division under the command of Lieutenant General Rudolf Veiel .
