Élan is a village and a former French commune with 75 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region . It belonged to the arrondissement of Charleville-Mézières and the canton of Nouvion-sur-Meuse .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Flize , Balaives-et-Butz , Boutancourt and Élan were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Flize of the same name and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Flize.
geography
Élan is about ten kilometers south-southeast of Charleville-Mézières and about 13 kilometers west-southwest of Sedan . Élan is surrounded by the villages of Balaives-et-Butz in the north and west, Étrépigny in the north, Boutancourt in the north-east, Sapogne-et-Feuchères in the east, Vendresse in the south and south-east, Villers-le-Tilleul in the south and south-west and Singly in the Southwest.
