Balaives-et-Butz is a village and a former French commune with 197 (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region . It belonged to the arrondissement of Charleville-Mézières and the canton of Nouvion-sur-Meuse . The inhabitants are called Balaiviens .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Flize , Balaives-et-Butz , Boutancourt and Élan were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Flize of the same name and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Flize.
geography
Balaives-et-Butz is located about nine kilometers south-southeast of Charleville-Mézières and about 15 kilometers west-southwest of Sedan . Balaives-et-Butz is surrounded by the towns of Boulzicourt in the north and north-west, Saint-Marceau in the north, Étrépigny in the east and north-east, Élan in the south and south-east, Singly in the south and south-west and Villers-sur-le-Mont in the west and Southwest.
