On October 10, 2002, Kane was given in exchange for Gordie Dwyer to the Tampa Bay Lightning , but he played exclusively for the Springfield Falcons in the AHL. After a year without service for Tampa's NHL team, the attacker received a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers on July 14, 2003 as a free agent . Although he played in the 2003/04 season again almost exclusively in the AHL, in which he was on the ice in 73 games for the Flyers farm team, the Philadelphia Phantoms . He also made his debut in the National Hockey League , in which he - without scoring a point - played seven times for the Flyers.
After he had won the Calder Cup with the Philadelphia Phantoms during the lockout in the NHL in the 2004/05 season , Kane went to the Washington Capitals as a free agent on August 12, 2005 . With their farm team, the Hershey Bears , he succeeded in winning the Calder Cup again in the 2005/06 season . He also played five times for the Capitals and scored his first point, an assist , in the NHL. On July 13, 2006, Kane returned as a free agent to his ex-club Philadelphia Flyers . Between 2006 and 2009 he played a few games for the Flyers, but was mostly used in their AHL farm team, the Philadelphia Phantoms.
In July 2009 he returned to the organization of the Washington Capitals and played in the following four game years for the Hershey Bears in the AHL. In July 2013 Kane was signed by KHL newcomer KHL Medveščak Zagreb .
