Bravo annual charts for 1964
Bravo annual charts for 1964
Cliff Richard had been a star in his native Great Britain since the early 1960s . In 1964 he made his breakthrough in the German-speaking area with German texts. His most successful title was Red lips should be kissed , which was only 7th in the Bravo annual charts due to its late release date. Beatlemania spilled over from the British Isles to Germany , but not yet with great success. Bernd Spier was able to outstrip the Beatles in the annual ranking. However, the hits She Loves You and Should Have Known Better also landed in the rear . For the first time, popular athletes had success with vinyl recordings this year. Hans-Jürgen Bäumler , the partner of figure skater Marika Kilius , landed in 8th place, and his colleague Manfred Schnelldorfer , who emulated him , reached 20th place with When you're alone .
Under the headline “BRAVO takes stock of hits from Beat to Sweet”, the German youth magazine published the hits of 1964 in its 1/1965 issue in the BRAVO-Musicbox section. Christian Müller wrote in his brochure Die Bravo-musicbox after evaluating the weekly music boxes based on a point system also compiled a ranking list of the BRAVO annual charts.
