Brissarthe is a village and a commune déléguée in the French commune of Les Hauts d'Anjou with 627 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the canton of Tiercé (until 2015: canton of Châteauneuf-sur-Sarthe ) in the arrondissement of Segré in the Maine-et department -Loire and in the region of Pays de la Loire . The inhabitants are called Brissarthois .

geography

Brissarthe is 52 kilometers southeast of Le Mans and 28 kilometers north-northeast of Angers an der Sarthe .

history

Here came the battle of Brissarthe in 866 , in which the Franks finally withdrew against the rebellious Bretons when their leaders Robert the Brave and Ramnulf I of Poitou fell.

On December 15, 2016, the municipality of Brissarthe merged with Champigné , Contigné , Cherré , Marigné , Sœurdres and Querré to form the new municipality of Les Hauts d'Anjou.
