The Buëch (also called Grand Buëch in the upper reaches ) is a white water river in France that runs through the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regions. It rises in the Maritime Alps in the Dévoluy massif , in the municipality of Lus-la-Croix-Haute , in the eastern section of the Vercors Regional Nature Park and generally drains southwards. Above Serres , the twin river Petit Buëch flows into the Grand Buëch. From here the river bears the name Buëch without any additional name and after a total of 85 kilometers it flows into the Durance as a right tributary at Sisteron . On his way he crosses the Drôme , Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence departments .

The landscape of the Buëchtal already has a Mediterranean character.
