The castle Brunn is an Outbound medieval lowland castle in the community outdoor area Brunn on the eastern edge of the Lorenz forest west of Brunn , a modern suburb of Nuremberg in Nuremberg County in Bavaria .
history
In 1347 the castle, which was administered by the Waldstromern from 1347 to 1396 , was first mentioned as "castle located in the forest, which is called Brunn". In the 13th or early 14th century, the castle served as a hunting lodge for the emperors and kings during their stays in Nuremberg . In the event of a change of the throne, Emperor Karl IV ordered in 1374 that the castle, like the Nuremberg Castle, should be subordinate to the local citizens as trustees for the future emperor or king.
During the First Margrave War in 1449, the castle was destroyed except for traces of the terrain in the form of wide and deep trenches . An anonymous copper engraving published by Johann David Köhler from 1728 provides information about the layout of the complex and shows the foundation walls of a roughly square castle complex, surrounded by a moat and the remains of a round or oval stone wall that protected the entire area.
