The Tower Hill in Sauanger even Burgstall in Sauanger called, is an Outbound Turmhügelburg (moth) on the eastern outskirts of Mittelhof (immediately south of the local access road to Dippersricht), in the municipality of Offenhausen in Nuremberg County in Bavaria .

history

The castle was built in the 13th century by the local nobles von Mittelhof, who were ministerials of unnamed noble families and five of whom are still in Kucha at the end of the 13th century. Possibly they were servants of the Reicheneck taverns at Reicheneck Castle . The facility, now known as the Burgstall im Sauanger , may also have served as an advanced control room for the nearby Hohenkuchen Castle , which was about 650 meters east on the Schlossberg.

Only small remains of the former castle complex, the tower of which was severely damaged after 1959 when a road and a house were built, remain.
