history

Not much is known about the history of this small castle complex, after evaluating ceramic fragments it was founded during the second half of the 12th century. It was given up only shortly afterwards in the second half of the 13th century. There are no written reports about it, so the name of this castle is also unknown.

The castle was probably built by the local lords of Hausen (= Margrethausen), this family can be traced for the first time in 1332. They also appear later when they donated for the Margrethausen monastery between 1338 and 1356 . Other local lords were the Tierbergers, who built another castle in the immediate vicinity of Hausen Castle, namely Wildentierberg Castle . Since they did not appear as local lords of Margrethausen until around 1300, they cannot be considered as founders of Hausen Castle.
