The Burg Stauffenberg is an Outbound hilltop castle on 487  m above sea level. NN above the confluence of the Zimmerbach in the Starzel about 2000 meters west of Stein , a district of Hechingen in the Zollernalbkreis ( Baden-Württemberg ). Lindich Castle is 900 meters to the southeast .

The castle was probably built in the 12th century by the Lords of Stauffenberg and was first mentioned in 1317 with the noble free von Stauffenberg. 1531 Klaus von Grafeneck is named as the owner, later the Counts of Zollern . The castle was destroyed in the 16th century.

The former castle complex had an 11 by 21 meter polygonal core castle , bounded by a moat . Today's Burgstall still shows the remains of moats and walls, as well as rubble.
