Volksburg

The Volksburg , also known as Stein , Musburg or Miesburg , is an abandoned medieval hilltop castle at 485  m above sea level. NN above the left bank of the Starzel 750 meters west of Stein , a district of Hechingen in the Zollernalbkreis ( Baden-Württemberg ).

The castle could have been founded as a people's castle in the Middle Ages within a prehistoric rampart . The former castle complex had an approximately circular core castle , protected by a main moat with a three-sided wall and moat system . The Catholic parish in Stein is named as the owner.

Today's Burgstall still shows a rubble hill with wall remains, probably a residential tower or keep , as well as wall and moat remains.
