Nový Žeberk Castle

The Nový Žeberk Castle (German Neuseeberg ) is a ruined castle on the southern slope of the Ore Mountains in northern Bohemia near the district Pyšná of the municipality Vysoká Pec in Okres Chomutov , Czech Republic. It is located on the Zámecký vrch ( Castle Hill ) near Pyšná.

history

The castle was built near the castle Žeberk (Seeberg) probably in the 1330s to replace them. The construction of the castle was not completed. The suspension of construction work and the abandonment of the complex in the first half of the 15th century can probably be attributed to the unrest during the Hussite Wars . Today only a few remains of the castle are preserved.

The castles Neuseeberg and Alt Seeberg were the manorial seats in the medieval Seeberg rule . In the years 1374 to 1379 Otto von Bergow is given as the owner of this lordship and as patron saint of the churches in the villages of Boleboř and Bernau . In 1383 Thimo VIII. Von Colditz , from 1348 court marshal and chamberlain of the German emperor and Bohemian king Karl IV. Bought Alt- und Neuseeberg. In 1395 the Lords of Colditz pledged Neu Seeberg with all accessories to Albrecht von Leisnig . The next pledgee was Heinrich von Ruenice . In 1412, Kaspar and Heinrich von Gablenz were recorded as captains for the castle. The Seeberg rule is said to have been part of the Bilin rule at times . In 1437 Veit II von Schönburg-Glauchau acquired the Seeberg rule. In 1454, the Burgraves of Leisnig sold the Seeberg dominion to Albert von Konipas, royal captain in Brüx at the Landeswarte Castle and owner of Rothenhaus Castle near Görkau , who attached the newly acquired property to the Rothenhaus dominion. The Seeberg rule ceased to exist.

At times, the Lords of Seeberg also owned Egerberg Castle .
