The Postal Alt-Trimburg , and Old Castle , lens Castle , Lower Castle called, is an Outbound medieval hilltop castle east of Trimburg and about 500 meters east of the church in Trimberg , a district of the market town of Elfershausen in the district of Bad Kissingen in Bavaria .

The old castle, formerly also called Niedernburg ( castrum inferrius ) or Linsenburg , was first mentioned in 1226 and was the outworking of the Trimburg at the foot of the castle hill. Remains of the keep and the curtain wall have been preserved from the castle complex, which was destroyed before 1234 . In 1381 and 1401 the castle is only mentioned as the estate of the Lords of Arnstein and von Erthal . This was finally destroyed around 1640.
