The Weissbach Castle is a baroque palace complex in the eponymous town of Weissbach in the Lower Franconian community Zeitlofs in the district of Bad Kissingen .

Weißenbach Castle is located in the Rhön , four kilometers east of Zeitlofs and eight kilometers southwest of Bad Brückenau at an altitude of 395  m above sea level. NHN . There are several ponds on the extensive grounds , some of which are heavenly ponds and some are fed by springs and groundwater . From these springs the Weißenbach , a right inlet of the Schondra .

history

The possessions are first mentioned in 1167 in connection with those of Steckelberg . In the early 14th century (1328) they were inherited by the Barons von Thüngen , who still own them today.

The buildings build over their underground predecessor structures, were expanded several times and partly renewed in the same way, for example in 1562, 1689 and 1784. The oldest structure still preserved today dates from 1588.

The Bavarian original cadastre shows Weißenbach Castle in the 1810s with almost the current building stock and the hamlet of Weißenbach to the east with eight hearths and its chapel . Several historical buildings have been preserved as architectural monuments .

The property of the Barons von Thüngen also includes other goods in the vicinity.

building

The building stock includes the Weißenbach Castle, a two-storey, baroque mansard hipped roof building with corner blocks and an outside staircase from 1784 and the utility building , a two-storey, plastered mansard gable roof building that was probably built at the same time. Furthermore, there is the servants' house , a two-storey masonry building with a crooked hip roof and the gatehouse, a two-storey gable roof with a solid ground floor and half-timbered upper floor . Furthermore, a tower ruin with a spiral staircase has been preserved, the door of which is labeled "1588".

The ponds are partly used for fishing .
