The Sodenberg Castle , also called Kilianstein , was a summit castle on the former 506  m above sea level. NN high summit of today's 481.3  m above sea level. NHN high Sodenberg southeast of Morlesau , a current district of Hammelburg in the Bad Kissingen district in Bavaria .

The castle, mentioned in 1393, was built in the middle of the 14th century by the Lords of Thüngen , who also sat on the Reußenburg , which was built in 1331 .

Around 1440 a new building was built and in 1562 extensions and alterations were carried out. The castle had fallen into disrepair since 1660 and was completely destroyed by basalt mining at the beginning of the 20th century . Today small remains of ramparts and moats still bear witness to the former castle complex.
