geography

Upper course

The Buschgraben rises from a source at about 235  m above sea level. NHN west of the Geiersberg , north of Willanzheim . Following a north-westerly course in open terrain, the Nuremberg – Würzburg railway line is crossed in a loop east of the underpass of the state road St 2419 Mainbernheim  -  Rothenburg ob der Tauber . From now on, along the road, a 400 m long tributary flows into it from the right before crossing it. In the following section through bushy terrain, a stream that rises north of the Geiersberg and crosses the water flows from the right , and immediately afterwards from the left a stream coming from the area south of the Lindig forest .

Lower course

After crossing under the St 2420 Marktsteft  -  Neuses am Sand and taking in a left tributary flowing through a sewage treatment plant, it continues for the last 500 m towards the mouth. To the east of the perimeter of Mainbernheim, on the right hand side touching the sports grounds of the local sports club, the Buschgraben now flows in a slight left bend towards the Sickersbach , which then initially continues in the Buschgraben inlet direction and is probably also called Buschgraben for a while.

The Buschgraben has an absolute gradient of around 21 meters over a length of 2.3 km and thus a mean bottom gradient of around 9 ‰.

Catchment area

It covers about 4.79 km² and is located in the Mainbernheimer level , a sub-area of the Kitzinger Maine level in front of the western Steigerwald in the sub-area of the Steigerwald foreland of the Mainfränkische Platten natural area . The highest point in the catchment area is the Geiersberg, which lies east of the headwaters and is around 278  m above sea level. Reached NHN .

The source area lies on a watershed, the waters drain south via the Breitbach into the Main , but over eight river kilometers south of the Sickersbach, to which the Buschgraben feeds its water.

Geologically, the catchment area is in the Unterkeuper .
