Extraction and presentation

Pentyl butyrate can be prepared by esterification of butanoic acid and 1-pentanol with sulfuric acid are recovered as the catalyst.

Butyric acid pentyl ester is often added to foods that taste like apricots or contain apricots, but also to cigarettes as a flavoring substance . It is also used in the paint industry.
