William Conrad "Buzz" Schneider (born September 14, 1954 in Grand Rapids , Minnesota ) is a former American ice hockey player . At the 1980 Winter Olympics , he won the gold medal as a member of the US national team.

Career

Buzz Schneider began his career as an ice hockey player at the University of Minnesota , for whose ice hockey team he participated from 1973 to 1975 in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . With his team he won the championship title of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in 1974 and 1975, and in 1974 also the championship title of the NCAA. In the 1975/76 season he took part in Team USA's preparation for the Olympic Games. The winger spent most of the 1976/77 season with the Hampton Gulls of the Southern Hockey League . For the team he scored 36 scorer points in 42 games, including 14 goals. He also came this season to some missions for the Birmingham Bulls from the World Hockey Association , the Springfield Indians from the American Hockey League and the Oklahoma City Blazers from the Central Hockey League . From 1977 to 1979 he was a regular player with the Milwaukee Admirals from the International Hockey League , before he again took part with Team USA in preparation for the Winter Olympics during the 1979/80 season. Most recently he played for SC Bern in the Swiss National League A from 1980 to 1983 , before ending his career at the age of 28.

International

For the United States Schneider participated in the 1976 Winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck and 1980 in Lake Placid in part, with his team, he won the gold medal 1980th In addition, he was in his country's squad at the B World Cup in 1974 and the A World Cup in 1975 , 1976 and 1982 .
