Cătălin Geru (born December 17, 1969 in Galați ) is a former Romanian ice hockey player who played in his career for Steaua Bucharest and the CSM Dunărea Galați . He was Romanian champion ten times with Steaua and once with Dunărea.

Career

Club

Cătălin Geru began his career with the capital city club Steaua Bucharest in the Romanian ice hockey league and was Romanian champion and cup winner with the club in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998 and 1999 . After spending the 1999/2000 season at CSM Dunărea Galați in his hometown, he returned to Steaua and won the championship again in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006 and the cup competition in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2008. After playing with Steaua in the new MOL league in 2008/09 , he finally moved back to Galați and won the first championship title in the club's history with Dunărea in 2015. Then he ended his career.

International

Geru took part in the Junior B World Championship in 1987 with the Romanian youngsters . In the men's national team , he first played at the B World Championships in 1993 , 1994 and 1995 and the C World Championships in 1997 and 1999 . After switching to the current division system, he was at the Division II World Championships in 2001 when he was the tournament's best goal setter, in 2006 when he was the top scorer and top scorer of the tournament, and in 2008 when he was also the best striker as top scorer and best preparer of the tournament, and Division I was active in 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2007 and 2009 .

He also played for Romania in the qualifying tournament for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .
