The 1975 Cadre 71/2 World Championship was the 17th Cadre 71/2 World Championship. The tournament took place in Buenos Aires from October 6-10, 1975 . It was the first Cadre 71/2 World Championship in Argentina.
history
Originally there were nine participants at the start. On the second day of the match, however, the Argentine Emilio Yazbek was eliminated from the tournament after differences with the tournament management. His games were removed from the rating. In retrospect it was criticized that the UMB admitted three players to this championship who did not have the level of a world championship. Three players were pretty much the same level. Before the last round, three players could become world champions. For Francis Connesson , a win against Manuel Girves, who had defeated Osvaldo Berardi and Dieter Müller , would be enough if, in a win by Müller against Berardi Müller, Connesson played seven more pictures. But it turned out differently. Berardi started against Müller with 241 points in the first recording and followed by 59 points in the second recording. Müller needed 291 points for a draw in the follow-up. But his series ended at 235 points. Since Connesson won 300: 149 in 10 recordings against Girves, a draw by Berardi against Müller would not have been enough for either of them to win the title.
Tournament mode
A final round in the round robin system up to 300 points was played. In the event of a tie in the MPs, the following order is taken:
- MP = match points
- GD = general average
- HS = maximum series
