The 1968 Cadre 71/2 World Championship was the 16th Cadre 71/2 World Championship. The tournament took place from October 16-20, 1968 in Bruges in the Flanders region. It was the third Cadre 71/2 World Championship in Belgium.
history
All records that were set in Düsseldorf in 1967 were improved in Bruges by the grand seigneur of billiards Jean Marty from France. He almost doubled the world record in the general average (GD) to 92.30 . He was the first player in the world to finish a game in one shot and screwed the best individual average (BED) to 300.00 and the highest series to (HS) 300 (prolonged 344 ) points. In the final game against Raymond Ceulemans , he won the gang decision and started himself. In front of a sold out house he finished the 300 points in just 34 minutes with a dreamlike security. Ceulemans only got 76 points in the second push. With 65.93 he also played far better than the old world record.
Tournament mode
A final round in the round robin system up to 300 points was played. In the event of a tie in the MPs, the following order is taken:
- MP = match points
- GD = general average
- HS = maximum series
