The 1959 Cadre 71/2 World Championship was the eleventh Cadre 71/2 World Championship. The tournament took place in Berlin from April 8th to April 12th, 1959 . It was the second Cadre 71/2 World Championship in Germany.

history

After a twenty year break, there was another Cadre 71/2 World Championship in Berlin. The Belgian Emile Wafflard was the winner after a playoff . He won against the German champion Walter Lütgehetmann with 300: 254 in just four shots. At this world championship, all world records were improved, some significantly. In the general average (GD) Wafflard improved the world record of the Argentine Pedro Leopoldo Carrera from 27.03 , set at the pentathlon world championship in 1954 in Buenos Aires , to 28.81 . The best individual average (BED) Carreras increased Wafflad from 60.00 to 75.00 . The world record in the highest series was held by Carrera and his compatriot Enrique Navarra with 159 since 1954 until 1959 . This was improved by the third place finisher at this world championship, Joseph Vervest, to 252 .

Tournament mode

A final round in the round robin system up to 300 points was played. In the event of a tie in the MPs, the following order is taken:

  1. MP = match points
  2. GD = general average
  3. HS = maximum series

At this world championship, the regulations stipulated that if there were more than two players with the same points at the top of the ranking, only the two GD best would carry out a playoff.
