The 1991 Cadre 71/2 World Championship was the 20th Cadre 71/2 World Championship. The tournament took place from October 3 to 6, 1991 in Mürzzuschlag . It was the first Cadre 71/2 World Championship in Austria.

history

Thirteen years after the last Cadre 71/2 World Championship in Bochum, another world championship in this attractive form of carambola took place in Mürzzuschlag, Austria. There were several favorites before the tournament. The format that has been played for over sixty years has also been completely changed. It was only played up to 250 points and there were placement games and a knockout phase. After the group games, the two group winners finally faced each other in the final. Here Frédéric Caudron won 250: 188 in four shots against Fonsy Grethen . Third place went to ex-European champion Stephan Horvath who won this title against Wolfgang Zenkner in the final in 1989. However, the best tournament performance was achieved by the Dutchman Jos Bongers, who finished in seventh place in the end. The only 20-year-old Martin Horn showed his great talent at times and was only eleventh. The officially no longer rated extended series improved Caudron to 427.

Tournament mode

Two preliminary round groups were played in the round robin system up to 250 points. The two best in the group played the semi-finals. All places were played out. In the event of a tie in the MPs, the following order is taken:

  1. MP = match points
  2. GD = general average
  3. HS = maximum series
