Caligola (music project)
Caligola is a network of artists from Stockholm that has existed since the 1970s and mostly operates underground.
In 2008 these artists created a music project of the same name that presented their works and those involved to the public. Since then, Caligola has released the album Back to Earth and its remake Back to Earth - Resurrection .

Caligola is a free global network of artists founded in northern Italy in the 1970s , operating in Stockholm, which aims to create new art forms through collaboration across disciplines.
The name "Caligola" refers to the Roman emperor Caligula , known for his opulent, excessive lifestyle and his madness, which culminated in having made his favorite horse consul . Based on this, two stallions can be found in the logo of the music project as symbols for the sexual energy of music.
In 2008, the front people of the Swedish rock band Mando Diao , Björn Dixgård and Gustaf Norén took notice of the collective and joined the network of musicians, painters, photographers, directors and other artists. There they met the Swedish hip-hop producers Masse and Salla Salazar (The Salazar Brothers TSB) . The decision to work together led to the production of the fifth Mando Diao album Give Me Fire (2009) to work on a music project under the name Caligola .
The concept of the Caligola collective is based on the idea of community. For this reason, black robes are worn during appearances, which are supposed to symbolize the equality of the creative and the elimination of differences. The primary aim is to jump over conventions and boundaries and to expand and combine all forms of art. This is also reflected in the music style resist, which is a fusion of musical genres: pop , rock and soul , hip-hop -Drums and wind instruments , dance beats , jazz and electro can be heard.

The first release followed with the video Sting of Battle on December 8, 2011 and the single of the same name Sting of Battle on December 27, 2011.
Forgive Forget , the second single from the debut album Back to Earth , took place on February 24, 2012.
The first album Back to Earth was released on March 2, 2012. In addition to the creators of Caligola, artists such as reggae singer Natty Silver , pop singer Agnes Carlsson , jazz saxophonist Per "Rusträsk" Johansson, jazz trumpeter Nils Jansson, Johnossi drummer Oskar Bonde, jazz musicians Bo Hansson & Janne Carlsson, gospel diva LaGalyia Frazier and DJ Paul van Dyk involved in the recordings. Other participating artists are May Yamani, Lovisa Insra, Bernd Harbauer, Frederik Andersson, Carlos Barth, Paulo Arraiano, Julia Dufvenius, Daniel Haglund, Ulises Infante, Alexandra Kinga Fekete, Daniel Annbjer, Carl Johan Fogelklou, Marcelo Scorsese, Patrik Heikinpieti, Malin- My Nilsson, Chepe Salazar, Jonte Wentzel, Andrea Doria Smith, Robert Bendrik, Krippe Ibaceta, Martina Montelius, Teresa Sida, Anders Marcus, Mathias Steur, Murray Trider, Danielle Turano, Saga Berlin, Ronny Burnout, Eva Millberg, Peter Eggers, Johannes Persson, Björn Andersson, Christopher Wollter, Sören Jensen, Chatrin Melander, Jan Carlsson, Erika Johansson and Channarong Khammuk (list according to the booklet of the CD Back to Earth )
The first public appearance took place at the aftershow party of the festival “ Rock im Park ” in Nuremberg in June 2011. With the release of the album, a tour started with performances at festivals and smaller venues in Germany , Sweden , Switzerland , Luxembourg and Austria .
Masse and Salla Salazar alternate with Björn Dixgård, Gustaf Norén, Natty Silver, Mando Diao bassist Carl Johan Fogelklou and Mando Diao keyboardist Mats Björke as the Mando Diao DJ Set or Caligola DJ Set . In September 2012, the Swedish hip-hopper Lazee was introduced as a new member of the music project.
In collaboration with Paul van Dyk, a revision of the song Violetta's Dance was created in 2012 , which can be found on van Dyks album Evolution under the title If You Want My Love .
