Cangzhou ( Chinese 滄州 市 / 沧州 市 , Pinyin Cāngzhōu shì ) is a prefecture -level city in the northern Chinese province of Hebei . Cangzhou has an area of 13,419 km² and about 7.5 million inhabitants (2016). 499,411 people live in the actual urban settlement area of Cangzhou (2010 census).
Almost 35 percent of the population of Cangzhou are Hui Chinese .
Administrative structure
At the district level, the city is made up of two urban districts, nine districts, one autonomous district and four independent cities. These are:
- Yunhe District (运河 区), 138 km², 270,000 inhabitants;
- Xinhua District (新华 区), 89 km², 220,000 inhabitants;
- Cang County (沧县), 1,527 km², 660,000 inhabitants;
- Qing County (青县), 968 km², 390,000 inhabitants, capital: Qingzhou Municipality (清 州镇);
- Dongguang County (东 光 县), 710 km², 350,000 inhabitants, capital: Dongguang Municipality (东 光 镇);
- Kreis Haixing (海兴县), km² 836, 220,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Suji (苏基镇);
- District Yanshan (盐山县), km² 795, 400,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Yanshan (盐山镇);
- Suning County (肃宁县), 497 km², 330,000 inhabitants, capital: Suning Municipality (肃宁 镇);
- Nanpi district (南皮 县), 794 km², 350,000 inhabitants, main town: Nanpi municipality (南皮 镇);
- Wuqiao County (吴桥 县), 603 km², 280,000 inhabitants, capital: Sangyuan Municipality (桑园 镇);
- Xian County (献县), 1,191 km², 570,000 inhabitants, capital: Leshou Municipality (乐 寿 镇);
- Mengcun Autonomous County of Hui (孟村 回族 自治县), 393 km², 180,000 inhabitants, main town: Mengcun Municipality (孟 村镇);
- City of Botou (泊头 市), 977 km², 550,000 inhabitants;
- Renqiu City (任丘 市), 1,023 km², 770,000 inhabitants;
- Huanghua City (黄骅市), 1,545 km², 490,000 inhabitants;
- City of Hejian (河 间 市), 1,333 km², 770,000 inhabitants;
