The Canon EOS R5 is a mirrorless system camera from the Japanese manufacturer Canon . It was launched in July 2020. When the camera was launched, the manufacturer announced a list price of around 4,390 euros for the camera.

The EOS R5 and the Canon EOS R6 presented at the same time are the first Canon cameras with image stabilization in the camera itself ( IBIS ).

technical features

In addition to the new Digic processor, a sensor and IBIS that were new at the time, the 8k video mode was the essential addition to the predecessor in the EOS R mirrorless full-frame camera class .

Canon EF and EF-S lenses as well as lenses from other manufacturers can be adapted to the Canon RF mount.

A few weeks after the camera presentation, Canon's statement that after 20 minutes of 8k video recording, the camera had to cool down for about 10 minutes at an ambient temperature of 23 ° C before it can record again, met with a great media response. 4k recordings with up to 30 frames per second are not affected by this limitation.
