Cargo Air is a Bulgarian cargo airline with headquarters in Sofia and bases in Plovdiv and Sofia airports .

history

Since Vega Airlines was on the list of operating bans for the airspace of the European Union and the Bulgarian aviation authority forbade flying in or over the territory of the EU, Vega Airlines has been operating as Cargo Air since November 2007 . Thereupon Cargo Air became global general sales agent for the cargo airline Ruby Star from Belarus and offered its customers logistics services with partial or full charter flights with Antonov An-12 and Ilyushin Il-76 .

Cargo Air eventually sold its Antonov An-12 to Russia , Ukraine and Belarus. At the end of October 2007, she signed a purchase agreement for a Boeing 737-300F with the American leasing company GA Telesis. In July 2009 Cargo Air started flying for TNT Airways in their European network. A second 737-300F was purchased in September 2009 and has been in use since July 2010. Due to the increasing demand for long-term wet leases and ad-hoc charter, a third 737-300F was purchased, which was delivered in September 2011.

Destinations

Cargo Air offers charter flights for air freight in Europe and the Middle East and operates flights for DHL Aviation .

For UPS, Cargo Air flies every working day with a Boing 737 from Cluj-Napoca in Romania to Cologne-Bonn Airport, thus connecting Romania to the international UPS network.
