The Carl Geringhoff GmbH & Co. KG is an international engineering company headquartered in Ahlen ( Westphalia ). Geringhoff has specialized in the development and production of harvesting attachments for combine harvesters for a wide variety of crops, and is the technology leader in this segment and the owner of numerous patents.

history

Carl Geringhoff founded the forging and agricultural machinery trading company in Ahlen in 1880, focusing on harvesting technology and traction engines. With the help of machinery, the harvest was supposed to be made easier, productivity increased and the living conditions of farmers improved. From 1890 threshing machines were developed, later the manufacture of additional drying machines followed.

In 1928 the company took over the Petermann works, which had got into financial difficulties . From 1955, the company began specializing in maize shellers for ginning maize cobs, and in 1958 the company began developing maize pickers for agricultural tractors.

At the beginning of the 1960s, Geringhoff, in cooperation with Daimler-Benz, developed the first European self-propelled corn harvester, fitted with a Unimog . A short time later, the company built maize headers for combine harvesters with two, four and more rows. In 1983 the world's first folding corn header for road transport was presented. In 1988 the company developed the first grain cutting units, which from 1989 were also offered foldable.

In 1991 the company relocated production to a 4.5 hectare site on Gersteinstrasse in the East industrial area. The old company headquarters in the north of Ahlen, initially still used as a warehouse, became an industrial wasteland. After the old systems have been demolished, a “Quartier Geringhoff” will be created on the site in 2014.

In 1995 Geringhoff brought out the Rota Disc , a maize picker with new three-rotor technology and integrated straw chopping. With the series introduction of the gear drive in 1997, Geringhoff succeeded for the first time in a maize header without belts and chains for power transmission. In 1998 the Mais Star was launched in North America, Africa and parts of South Europe as a special machine for extreme harvesting conditions.

After 2000, the first 12-row, folding maize pickers for large combine harvesters left the plant for North America. In 2004 Geringhoff presented the first maize picker with an active horizontal cut stubble cutter. In 2007, the world's first foldable grain header with an infinitely adjustable table and the first sunflower harvesting attachments were presented.

In 2011 the TriFlex band cutting system expanded the product range. For the first time, a rigid transverse screw conveyor was dispensed with. Instead, wide conveyor belts were used. In the same year Geringhoff presented the world's first row-independent corn picker Independence at Agritechnica in Hanover .

On September 11, 2012, Geringhoff announced the establishment of a second production facility in St. Cloud, Minnesota . Corn pickers for the American market are to be manufactured and delivered at the new location. The Ahlen plant was also expanded to include the purchase of the former Kosmann site.

Geringhoff is represented in numerous countries around the world. Geringhoff header attachments can be found as initial equipment from various manufacturers such as Deutz-Fahr or John Deere .

Awards

Historical threshing machines in collections

The builder was the city council of Bad Wildungen , an alternative accommodation has been the Horse Strength Club in Isselhorst since April 2008 .
