Carl Josef Holzer

Carl Josef Holzer (born September 7, 1800 in Ehrenbreitstein , † April 4, 1885 in Trier ) was a Catholic clergyman and member of the Reichstag .

Life

Holzer attended grammar school in Koblenz, studied theology at the University of Bonn from 1819 to 1822 , where he also received his doctorate. It was in 1823 for priests ordained in 1832 and priest in Koblenz -Liebfrauen, 1849 provost in Trier . He was a candidate for bishopric several times .

From 1849 to 1850 Holzer was a member of the 1st Chamber , from 1856 to 1862 and from 1867 to 1874 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . From 1867 to 1874 he was a member of the Reichstag , in 1867 as a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation for the constituency of Aachen 1 ( Schleiden - Malmedy - Montjoie ) and from 1867 to 1870 and then from 1871 to 1874 for the constituency of Trier 1 ( Daun - Bitburg - Prüm ). In the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation he was a member of the parliamentary group of the Free Association and as a member of the Reichstag from 1871 to 1874 he did not join any parliamentary group.

In 1873 he received the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class for his 50th anniversary in service, and in 1878 he became a member of the manor house . In 1883 he was made an honorary citizen of Trier.
