Carl Joseph von Wreden

Carl Joseph von Wreden (* 1761 in Mannheim , † January 20, 1829 in Darmstadt ) was a politician in the Grand Duchy of Hesse , where he was a minister and member of the state parliament.

Carl Joseph von Wreden was the son of the Mannheim court chamber councilor and court cashier Friedrich Suibert Wrede (* 1723 in Brilon ), since March 12, 1791 Baron von Wrede. Carl Joseph von Wrede completed his theology studies in Heidelberg and Nancy and was then a secret trainee lawyer in Kurköln and from 1802 to 1803 in the service of the Salzburg bishop before he entered the service of Hesse-Darmstadt in 1803. Initially, he was a member of the General Organization Commission in Arnsberg . Between 1804 and 1818 he was a member of the general ministry in Darmstadt , where he was responsible for church and school. In 1819 he was supported by the University of Giessen Dr. Phil et Jur. PhD.

From 1820 until his death in 1829 he was a member of the first chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse , i.e. a member of the state parliament .

In 1827 Grand Duke Ludwig I designated Carl Joseph von Wreden as Bishop of Mainz, but did not receive the Pope's approval.
