Ludwig Bendix (theologian)

Carl Ludwig Thaddaeus Bendix (born October 28, 1857 in Mainz , † September 28, 1923 there ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian and member of parliament .

Bendix was the son of the businessman Johann Baptist Valentin Bendix (1821–1899) and his wife Rosina nee Wagner (1831–1908). He attended grammar school in Mainz and from 1877 studied law at the University of Giessen and later theology at the seminary in Mainz. He was ordained a Roman Catholic priest on August 1, 1886. He became a chaplain in Bensheim , Gießen and at Mainz Cathedral . After graduating as Dr. jur. utr. From 1894 to 1895 he was assistant professor at the seminary in Mainz and from 1895 to 1910 he was professor . In 1901 he became cathedral capitular , from 1920 to 1922 cathedral dean and vicar general .

As a representative for Bishop Georg Heinrich Maria Kirstein , he was a member of the First Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse from 1907 to 1918 with sovereign permission . He took his parliamentary oath on March 25, 1907.
