Caterina Davinio 1990

Caterina Davinio (born November 25, 1957 in Foggia ; real name Maria Caterina Invidia ) is an Italian poet , writer and artist . She is an author of digital poetry and digital art .

Life

Davinio lived in Rome from 1962 to 1997 and studied Italian literature and art history at La Sapienza University . She has lived in Lombardy , Monza and Lecco since 1997 and is considered an international artist.

The artist began as a pioneer of Italian electronic poetry in the experimental field of writing, visual art and new media in the early 1990s, working with computers, video, digital photography and the Internet. She is also the author of novels, essays and visual and concrete poetry . She also created works using traditional techniques such as painting. Her art projects have been shown several times at the Venice Biennale , where she exhibited animated digital poetry for the first time ( VeneziaPoesia , 1997).

With her website "Karenina.it" she is considered the founder of Italian net-poetry . There she removed the boundaries between poetry, art, criticism and information and created a poetry performance , which in this case is the movement of data and information on the Internet. Other participants are Julien Blaine , Clemente Padin , Philadepho Menezes and Mirella Bentivoglio .

With a number of artistic initiatives since 1992, Caterina Davinio built a bridge in Italy between experimental poetry and electronic and video art.
