Cesare Bonivento PIME (born September 30, 1940 in Chioggia ) is an Italian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Vanimo .

Life

Cesare Bonivento joined the religious community of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions and was ordained a priest on June 26, 1965 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Vanimo on December 21, 1991. The Bishop of Alotau-Sideia , Desmond Charles Moore MSC , ordained him episcopal on May 10 the next year ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Giovanni Ceirano , Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands , and Benedict To Varpin , Archbishop of Madang .

On February 5, 2018, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
