Chã is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Montalegre . 748 inhabitants live in it (as of June 30, 2011).

history

The Romans converted the existing Lusitanian temples into their own places of worship, and a Roman road ran through what is now the municipality .

In the 18th century, Chã was already a separate municipality and has belonged to the Montalegre district since 1852 .

Culture, sports and sights

The 10th century Romanesque church Igreja de São Vicente is one of the few examples of a two-aisled church. In addition to other sacred buildings , a Roman bridge is under monument protection in the community.

Located on the Barragem do Alto Rabagão reservoir (also known as Barragem dos Pisões ), there are a variety of bathing and water sports opportunities. Fishing is particularly popular there, and fishing tourists also come here.
