Chandragiri ( Nepali चन्द्रागिरी ) is a city ( municipality ) in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal and belongs to the Kathmandu metropolitan area .
The city, located in the west of the Kathmandu district , was created in 2014 through the merger of the Village Development Committees (VDCs) Baad Bhanjyang , Balambu , Dahachok , Machhegaun , Mahadevsthan , Matatirtha , Naikap Naya Bhanjyang , Naikap Purano Bhanjyang , Satungal , Thankot and Tinthana . The city administration is located in the administration building of the former VDC Balambu. The urban area covers 43.9 km². Chandragiri borders directly on the capital Kathmandu in the east.
Residents
At the 2011 census, the VDCs from which the city of Chandragiri emerged had 85,198 inhabitants (42,881 male) in 20,532 households.
