Dakshinkali Temple

Dakshinkali or Daxinkali ( Nepali दक्षिणकाली ) is a city ( municipality ) in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal and belongs to the Kathmandu metropolitan area . The place name means something like 'southern Kali' and refers to a temple complex several centuries old.

Dakshinkali is located about 20 km southwest of the capital Kathmandu near the village of Pharping at an altitude of about 1450 to 1600 m above sea level. d. M.

Residents

In the 2011 census, the Village Development Committees (VDCs) that made up the city of Dakshinkali had 24,297 inhabitants (11,873 male) in 5,488 households.

history

Numerous medieval temples in the area suggest that the area has been inhabited for centuries. The city, located in the south-west of the Kathmandu district , was created in 2014 by merging the six VDCs Chalnakhel , Chhaimale , Dakshinkali , Setidevi , Sheshnarayan and Talkududechour . The urban area covers 42.6 km².

Attractions

The biggest attraction of the place is the Dakshinkali Temple , located in a ravine , in which animal sacrifices are made almost daily to the Hindu goddess Kali .
