Chaquilla is a town in the Potosí department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Chaquilla is the central place of the canton Chaquilla in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Porco in the province Antonio Quijarro . The settlement is located at an altitude of 3761  m in the Valle de Kilpani (Kilpani Valley).

Chaquilla is located on the Altiplano in central Bolivia between the Cordillera de Chichas in the southwest and the Cordillera Central in the northeast. The region's climate is typical of the time of day , in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the seasons.

The annual average temperature of the region is around 11 ° C (see Potosí climate diagram), the monthly averages vary between 8 ° C in June / July and a good 13 ° C from November to March. The annual precipitation is only about 350 mm, with a pronounced dry season from April to October with monthly precipitation between 0 and 15 mm, and a short humidity period from December to February with monthly precipitation of a good 70 mm.
