Charrais is a village and a former French commune with 1,087 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Poitiers and the canton of Migné-Auxances (until 2015: Canton of Neuville-de-Poitou ). The inhabitants are called Charraisiens .

With effect from January 1, 2017, the former municipalities of Vendeuvre-du-Poitou , Charrais , Cheneché and Blaslay were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Saint Martin la Pallu and have the status of a Commune déléguée there . The administrative headquarters are in Vendeuvre-du-Poitou.

Charrais is about 17 kilometers northwest of Poitiers . The Charrais , Étables and Charrajou villages are part of the Charrais commune déléguée .
